Manuscripts Collection
The White Earth, Red Lake, and Consolidated Chippewa agency files pertain to land claims, buildings and equipment (schools and hospitals), education, employment and training for Indians, relief work, investigations and inspections, and council decisions. Chippewa logging files include annual reports and also concern land claims and sales, logging activity, and land selections for national forests. Chippewa Commission files contain correspondence and biweekly reports from the Minnesota commissioners to the Bureau, and correspondence with various other Ojibwe agents.
The files in this collection were selected by the researcher from several related series in the custody of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, which were called "classified files."
