Manuscripts Collection
The materials in the collection include information on the hiring of teachers for and financial problems of the missions, the conversion and education of the Indians, friction between missionaries and mission organizations, relations with United States Indian agents, the treaty of Traverse des Sioux (1851) and other Indian treaties, Indian intertribal warfare, and government support of mission schools.

The Calendar is in chronological order by year, month, and day. In addition to date they generally include the name of the author (and recipient if the item is a letter) and/or a brief description of the item, and a citation to the source of the manuscript or printed item. The place where a letter was written may also be given.
Entries arranged in alphabetical order by personal name. Taken from Minnesota Historical Society's public catalog, 1928. Entries usually includes name of missionary or other individual, MHS catalog number, title, date, number of pages, and sometimes other citation information.
