The collection also includes miscellaneous records of the Ashlar Lodge (Rochester, Minn.); and charter (1959) of Paragon Lodge No. 216 (Detroit Lakes, Minn.).

Concerns the Welsch Consent Decree, a landmark court case (1972-1989) which led to major changes in the treatment of Minnesota's institutionalized mentally retarded citizens. Patricia Welsch, by her father Richard Welsch, filed the suit against Public Welfare Department (DPW) commissioners (successively Arthur Noot, Edward Dirkswager, Vera Likins, Leonard Levine, Sandra Gardebring, as the case was litigated). In September 1980, the parties involved entered into an agreement known as the Welsch Consent Decree and the case was formally dismissed in August 1989.

Minutes, scrapbooks, photographs, and other memorabilia of an African American social club formed in 1925. Much of the material documents parties and other special events held by the club, especially the annual Cotillion Ball, where the club presented debutantes during the 1950s and 1960s.

Farm records, including a report of the alleged malfeasance of the dairyman (circa 1912-1914), registration forms for the farm's American Poland-China and National Duroc-Jersey pigs (1906-1914), inventories of all farm stock, supplies, and materials (1891, 1925-1946), monthly livestock reports (October 1930-June 1969), machinery auction materials (1968), and monthly reports of farm credits and charges (1947-1961). The latter also include statements of labor and repairs furnished the institution by the farm, power plant, and construction departments, and a record of inmate labor furnished the farm.

Norman K. Culver's papers include some correspondence with the Quartermaster General's Office, Treasury Department and the War Department concerning missing paperwork and unsettled accounts while Culver served in acting appointments at Fort Ridgely, correspondence with the Bureau of Pensions regarding his pension claim, correspondence concerning a monument at Fort Ridgely; documents regarding land purchases in Fillmore County; and some Fillmore County Probate Court documents regarding his grandchildren Effa, Ella, and Maud Trescott; and his military commissions. Papers concerning Charles M. Culver include biographical information, some correspondence with the Grand Army of the Republic concerning his military service, death and burial, and other miscellaneous related materials.
