Most of us drive over at least one bridge on a daily basis. A recent acquisition includes bridge plans for approximately 996 bridges selected as a representative sample of various bridge types used in the state, structures of historical significance in terms of engineering or location, and standard plans used by the Highway Department's Bridge Division between the 1890s and 1973.

Plans are also included for bridges listed in, or eligible for, the National Register of Historical Places, or for which an Historic American Engineering Record [HAER] report was completed. Information recorded on the plans may include bridge number, county, local jurisdiction (township, village, city) or plat map coordinates, date, engineer(s), and related details. Some of the structures may no longer exist.

U.S. War Department, Adjutant General's Office. Fort Ridgely records, 1870-1880.

Volume prepared in the office of the U.S. Adjutant General from the archives of the War Department and includes one map. Also includes information on treaties with the Dakota Indians (1851-1863), on the Spirit Lake Massacre (1857), and on the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. Oversize material includes two maps of the reservation connected with the fort (1870 and 1880).
