In honor of Women's History Month this month, and the anniversary of the U.S. entering World War I next month, we are highlighting a few collections that concern women and the war front.
The Hortense Bodelson World War I correspondence, 1917-1919 includes letters to and from a school teacher who taught at the Vasa Orphan Home in Red Wing.
The George F. Fairbanks World War I papers, 1916-1930 include a folder of Gold Star Mothers and Widows documentation collected by George's mother Susan Ella Aldrich when she traveled to France in 1930 to visit her son's gravesite.
The Letters received from World War I servicemen, 1917-1918 includes the correspondence of Elsa Horn, a University of Minnesota student who later taught elementary school in Wisconsin.
