What's New -- January 2021

The Green Giant Company records include one of our larger collections of audiovisual material. Digitizing this collection was to be a major priority in 2020. Circumstances obviously put a dent in these plans, but thankfully we're now back on track! Over two hundred films are in the process of being cleaned and transferred by Saving Tape Media Conversion in Minneapolis. We have also digitized all of the audio and videotapes in-house, and they are now available to access online.

Available items include vintage ads, jingles, documentaries, and behind-the-scenes looks at factories across the state. A particular stand-out is the complex relationship drama found within the LeSueur Mushrooms commercials. We'll be updating the finding aid throughout the year as the films are completed, providing even more of a fascinating glimpse of Minnesota brand history.
